La Zagaleta Golf

Old Course – Designed by the Californian architect Bradford Benz in 1991 and redesigned by Marc Westenborg in 2016, the Old Course integrates in perfect harmony the wildlife and vegetation of the environment. This has been the main objective of this prestigious American designer in tackling the La Zagaleta challenge.

New Course – La Zagaleta Club presents a challenging 18-hole design in the form of The New Course. Opened in 2005, the layout was created to live alongside nature, so you can expect to see an abundance of gorgeous wildlife throughout your round.

With the natural landscaping of this course, accuracy off the tee is key, and precision will favour length in this instance. Contend with deep valleys, rolling fairways and lots of woodlands as you head round this par-70 layout. Top off the fantastic golf with exceptional views from every hole.

Designed by Steve Marnoch it is fair to say that this project has been extremely challenging embarking on the golf course shaping and landscape design. What has emerged is a stunning course (Opened in 2005).

Situated within a gated residential estate where properties are in the millionaire bracket, the Old Course was constructed in the early 1990s by American Brad Benz and he moved a fair amount of earth when establishing the rolling fairways that are routed over the mountain landscape here, above Benahavís.
A second 18-hole layout, Los Barrancos (now called the New), opened in 2007 and it will be interesting to see if this Steve Marnoch/Jonathan Gaunt co-design can match the high standards set by the original course.
